A possible career plan?

Talking about this reminds me of a dear friend whom during my secondary school years was super clear about what she wants to be and the how-tos as well. She scribbled her path onto a paper cardboard, the kind you would get at the back of a foolscap paper as she explained to me. Of course I was jealous because I wasn’t even sure what I want to be, let alone how to reach there. 

It’s tough to figure out what I want to do as a life-long career. It took years. I found myself in the design industry and am somehow struggling to get the hang of it. At this point, I don’t want to to waste time exploring, but more of settling down and go for it. So I’ve chosen to be a designer as a career. Hopefully a multidisciplinary designer or a communication designer, or even an art director. Definitely as of now, I want to secure the position of a communication designer for around 10 years. After that, I want to try art/creative directing or freelancing for another 10 years. In between, I want to learn entrepreneurship and start conducting workshops and classes and InsyaAllah own my own studio. 

And then, the next phase is to teach design and creativity, to anyone who wants to use creativity in life/work/school. It’s a dream to be able to share what I learn and inspire people to think creatively. I want to change the perception that creativity is only for the ‘gifted’ people, and educate people on the importance of being creative. Not just people, but mums and brands too. This world needs a little bit of donuts with sprinkles. Maybe during this phase, I want to publish my own books or collaborate with people. Maybe the collaboration can start at an earlier phase. Let me name this the ‘Spreading inspirations’ phase. 

After the peak of my career, I want to settle down knowing I’ve passed down my legacy in this world, and live a simple life. Maybe become a bus driver, have the weekends for goreng pisangs and teh tarik sessions with my future husband, go for fitness sessions with friends, cook delicious food and create my own garden and recipes at home, maybe also make custom tailored clothing for customers. Just like my late grandma. Being creative and independent in her own ways. 

Be bold with your dreams.

My go-to drink for sore throat

I’m really uncertain if it’s because of the drastic change in weather or if it is me being careless about my health that caused (and still is causing) me to bear with days of sore throat, coughs and blocked nose. It was not an easy feat to be totally off that hook, when I was not planning to see the doctor about it. That means, I have to go about with taking extra precaution of what I put into my mouth, including daily meals and snacks, as well as those unhealthy cravings. Can you believe it? Weeks without any cold desserts like ice-cream, not even any cold drinks. Been cutting off the oily food too. These pleasures were not in my daily diet! (Okay, spoiler alert: I rarely consume them these days because of how prone I am to colds. Man I really need to boost my immune system!)

I have to be creative with what’s given, a must to entice myself with what I can consume, so I would not easily give up to those temptations. Well, in order to first of all, cure the sickness, I have to start with the basic way of making something that will cure it, which in my case is, my trustworthy Hot Honey Lemon drink!

What’s different for the one I made today was that, I added a little more fresh taste to it by simply adding a few leaves of mint!

So easy to make, guys. Refreshing as well!

1 tablespoon of honey – You can add more, according to your own preference
1 or 1/2 slice of lemon – I had mine pre-sliced so all I had to do was to squeeze and then drop them in the cup. Again, you can add more if you want.
1 cup of hot water – Or if not too hot, 4/5 hot water, 1/5 warm water
3 leaves of mint – You can add more, if you want more of the minty taste

Anyway, being sick taught me a few things, mainly to eat healthily. I might actually consider eating really healthy food and snacks from now onwards. For instance, I bought Soy Bread earlier today when I went for grocery shopping, as well as this oat biscuits that managed to convince me into buying it with it’s ’10 grains’ constituents. I was about to grab some Muesli bars or simply Muesli boxes for breakfast but it was too pricey. I don’t want to quickly jump into that healthy diet, but to slowly ease in. Then maybe later today, I might make polenta (supposed healthy substitute of mashed potatoes) so I can have those for the next few days as breakfast! I have tried Almond milk once and no, I hate the taste, but for this diet sake, I might get it again?

Oh and yes, I need to get myself a raw virgin coconut oil, for my hair and maybe for oil pulling too. I have to blame all of these to Niomi, this oh-so-amazing Youtube blogger, who managed to get me into trying a more healthy diet, with all her nutty vegan recipes and regimes. Urgh. But okay, at least I’ll thank her at the end of the day. I have to agree with what she mentioned in one of her videos. It does make me feel happy knowing that what goes in my body is nutritious and good for me. I know that being fit makes me feel so fresh and just that excites me! Well other than exercising (Yes, finally picked it up again last week and I did went for a 3km run earlier in the afternoon. Oh boy, it felt so good!), I do have to eat well too.
